Frequently Asked Questions

Lab-grown diamonds

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes, completely. A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond, identical to a mined one in every way: same carbon, same structure, the same brilliance and fire, and every bit as hard, a perfect 10 on the Mohs scale. What sets ours apart is origin, not quality. Ours are grown rather than mined, which means a genuine diamond with a far gentler footprint.

How can you tell a lab-grown diamond from a mined one?

You can't tell them apart by eye, and nor can we without specialized equipment. They are the same stone in every visible way. When you visit, we're glad to take you through the details so you feel confident in your choice.

Are lab-grown diamonds lower quality or lower value?

Not at all, if anything the quality runs high. They're graded on exactly the same scale as mined diamonds: cut, color, clarity and carat. Because ours grow in a controlled, exceptionally pure environment, their clarity and color come out remarkably consistent, the kind of purity you would otherwise only find in the very top tier of mined stones, and we select from the best of that range. Every center stone comes with an independent IGI certificate, so it's all in writing. As for value, we'd rather be honest: a diamond, mined or grown, isn't really an investment, since few hold their price at resale. This is a piece to wear and one day pass on, and for that a lab-grown diamond gives you more beauty for what you spend, with nothing taken from the earth.

How do you choose your diamonds?

We hand-select every diamond individually, for each client, and we're strict about it. The grading on paper, the 4 C's, is only the starting point. What matters just as much is how a stone behaves in real life: the way it catches and returns light. We assess the cut and brilliance of each stone ourselves, so it looks every bit as beautiful in the hand as it does on its certificate.

Why lab-grown?

Because it lets us offer something beautiful without the mining, and without its cost to people and place. Our diamonds are conflict-free by nature: grown rather than dug, so there's no mining, no murky supply chain, and an origin you can trace completely. They're carbon neutral too, grown using green energy. A smaller footprint, the same lasting quality, and nothing on your hand that came at someone else's expense. For us this isn't a feature to highlight. It's simply how we work.

Gold & materials

What is recycled 18K gold?

Gold that's been reclaimed and lovingly refined rather than freshly mined, with all the richness, strength, and luxurious weight of newly mined gold, and exactly the same purity, color, and feel. Choosing it means nothing new is taken from the earth, which sits right at the heart of how we make things.

What does 18K, or 750, mean?

18 karat means 75% pure gold, marked 750 inside the band. The rest of the blend gives your ring its strength and its color. We're happy to talk you through the differences when you visit.

What gold colors can I choose?

Yellow, white and rose, all in recycled 18K. The best way to choose is in person, where we can hold each one against your skin so you can see which suits you. People are often surprised by their favorite.

Bespoke & custom design

How does the bespoke process work?

It begins with a conversation, where we listen to your story and what you have in mind. From there we design in 3D and always share a 3D video simulation, so you can see your ring from every angle before it exists. On request, we can also show a wax 3D print to hold in advance. Nothing goes into production until you've approved it. A custom design can take up to twelve weeks, depending on its complexity. It's a personal process from start to finish, and we stay close at every step.

Can I design something fully custom, or only adjust existing pieces?

Both, whichever suits you. You can personalize a piece from our collection, or start from a blank page and create something entirely your own. We're glad to guide you whichever way you lean.

How far ahead should I book for an engagement ring?

For a custom piece, around three months before you'd like to propose gives us comfortable time to create something considered. If you're choosing from the collection, you'll need less. When in doubt, reach out early and we'll make it work.

How far ahead should I book wedding bands?

We'd suggest booking your bridal appointment at least two months before the wedding. That leaves room to design, craft and size your rings calmly, without a last-minute rush.

Can old jewelry become a new piece?

Yes, through our Relove service. We reclaim the gold and stones from pieces you no longer wear and give them new life, either in a design from our collection or in something we create together.

Appointments & visiting

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Every visit is one-to-one, so we work by appointment and give you our full attention. You can book on our site in a moment.

Can I see and try the pieces before I decide?

Of course, and we'd encourage it. Come and try the collection on, feel the weight, see the colors against your skin. There's no pressure and no rush, just our help finding what feels right.

Where is your atelier?

You'll find us in Antwerp's leafy Groen Kwartier. We'll send the exact address along with your booking confirmation, and we can't wait to welcome you.

What if I'm not in Antwerp?

Not a problem. Choose the video option when you book and we'll guide you just as carefully from a distance, in Dutch, French or English. Wherever you are, your finished piece ships to you worldwide, free of charge.

Pricing & payment

How much does an engagement ring cost?

Our Primrose solitaire starts at €1,750 with a 0.50ct lab-grown center stone of excellent quality, or €2,200 if you choose our highest, VIP-grade stone. From there, the price reflects your design, your stone and the day's gold price. You'll have a clear, honest quote at your appointment, with no surprises.

Why does the price change?

Gold is priced fresh every day, like any precious material. Because we make each piece to order, we calculate your ring against that day's gold price. It's the fairest way: nothing rounded up, nothing padded.

How does payment work, and can I spread it?

A 50% deposit secures your design, and the balance follows once your piece is ready. If you'd prefer to spread the cost, you can pay in installments through Alma or Klarna. Just let us know what suits you.

Sizing, delivery & care

How do I find my ring size?

You can measure a ring you already wear, or follow the size guide on our site. Easier still, book a complimentary sizing consultation and we'll measure you precisely so your ring fits properly.

I don't know my partner's size. Can I still propose with a ring?

Yes, and plenty of people do. We have the experience to help you estimate the right size as closely as possible. And after the yes, if any adjustment is needed, we'll resize the ring complimentary, so it ends up sitting exactly right.

It's made to order and non-returnable. How do I know it'll be right?

This is exactly why we take such care before anything is made. Together we settle the design, the stone and the fit, and nothing begins until you've approved it. Because every detail is decided with you, there's nothing to return. And we're here afterward whenever you need us.

Can a ring be resized later?

In most cases, yes. Bring it back to us and we'll take care of it. Fully set or eternity-style bands are the one exception, and we'll let you know before you choose, so there are no surprises later.

How long does delivery take, and do you ship?

As everything is made to order, most pieces are ready in four to six weeks for collection pieces, and up to twelve weeks for custom designs, depending on the complexity of the project. We ship worldwide, free of charge, and if a special date is approaching, tell us and we'll do our best to help.

What is your returns policy?

Because each piece is made to order, for you specifically, we're not able to take returns. Instead we put the care up front: we settle the design, stone and fit with you before we begin, so your ring is right from the start.

How do I care for the piece?

Gold and diamonds are easy to live with. An occasional gentle clean keeps them looking their best, and if your piece ever needs attention, you're welcome to bring it back to us.

About Juna Fae

What makes Juna Fae different?

We're three sisters with one atelier in Antwerp, and everything we make is by hand, in recycled 18K gold with lab-grown diamonds. But what people tell us they remember most is the personal welcome: the time we take, the care, and the feeling of being truly looked after. Our designs are made to stack and layer, so they can grow and change right alongside you.

Are your pieces only for engagements and weddings?

Engagement and wedding rings are at the heart of what we do, but they're only the beginning. Our collection is made to stack and layer, so there's something to mark the chapters that follow, too.

Still have a question, or not sure where to start? We're happy to help. Come and see us in Antwerp, or meet us by video, whenever you're ready.
